Rev. Walter Coy graduated from Youngstown State University. He earned an Associate Degree in Police Science and a Bachelor Degree in Religious Studies. He graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree with specifications in Pastoral Psychology and Counseling from Ashland Theological Seminary in Ashland, Ohio and Emerge Ministries in Akron, OH. Rev. Coy was Ordained in 1989 with the Disciples of Christ and has duel standing with the United Church of Christ. He is on the Pulpit Supply for the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Presbyterian Church and the UCC. He has served many churches throughout Northeastern Ohio, Pennsylvania, Northeastern Indiana, and Massachusetts.
Rev. Coy has Conflict Management Training and One Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from Akron General Hospital. Rev. Coy received his Interim Training in Boston, Massachusetts from a company based out of Baltimore, Maryland. He has served as Asst. Chaplain at Leavittsburg Correctional Institution in Leavittsburg, Ohio and helped open and set up the Religious Department and programming at Lake Erie Correctional Institution in Conneaut, Ohio while serving as their Head Chaplain. Rev. Coy has served on the Executive Board of the Ohio Conference and the Western Reserve Association of the United Church of Christ. He served as a Mental Health Therapist for 5 years and has been a Substitute School Teacher since 1998.
Rev. Coy and his wife Joyce live in Poland, Ohio.
